The Pocumtuck Homelands Festival, a celebration of Native American art, music, and culture, will take place on Saturday, August 2, noon to eight p.m., along the river at Unity Park, Turners Falls, MA, presented by the Nolumbeka Project and Turners Falls River Culture. Live music will be presented throughout the day by Hawk Henries, Native American flute, Medicine Mammal Singers, Urban Thunder Singers, and the Visioning B.E.AR. Singers. Outstanding Native American craftspeople will sell pottery, drums, jewelry, beadwork, quill work, silver, bark baskets, gourd art, wampum, sacred herbs, textiles, and much more. There will be ongoing primitive skills demonstrations with Wolf Tree Programs. Also, storytelling and children’s crafts ($2), traditional games, a wigwam and tipi! The event, in conjunction with the village-wide Turners Falls Block Party, is free and handicapped accessible.
